How could I possibly resist adding to the Shopping Mall page on Wikipedia??
The 1980’s were a decade of innovation for the North American Mall. A true “mall culture” developed; popularized by suburban youth, malls became more than just a place to shop and dine. The term “Mall hair” was coined: hair was sprayed and blown out to an almost impossible diameter, a practice used to attract the opposite sex. One strip mall in particular embraced this decade of innovation: Rosedale Commons, in Roseville, MN, enclosed a portion of the mall façade with garage doors, providing protection in front of the stores during the Winter months while allowing the outside in during the Summer months. Rosedale Commons will be treated to a facelift in 2010, courtesy of the Minnesota architectural firm, Tanek.
