Holden
House.
This project revitalized the historic former Sholom Home nursing home in St. Paul’s Como neighborhood, breathing new life into a long-vacant building. Originally constructed in 1923, the structure underwent significant rehabilitation while preserving key historic elements, such as the front entry and terrazzo floors prominently featured in the main lobby. The building’s five later additions have been creatively repurposed, resulting in a variety of unique apartment floorplans.
The site’s varied roof levels and grade conditions provided opportunities to incorporate outdoor spaces for 26 apartments, enhancing resident comfort and connection to the outdoors. Amenities include a hotel-style lobby, a fitness center, two rooftop decks, multiple cozy lounges, and indoor parking. This thoughtful restoration blends modern living with historic charm, creating a vibrant residential community.
